Accurant International Acquires Sentient Energy, a Business Unit of Koch Engineered Solutions

Bainbridge Island, WA – April 11, 2024 – Accurant International, LLC, today announced it has signed a definitive agreement with Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) to acquire Sentient Energy, a business unit of KES. Sentient Energy, a leader in electric distribution grid transformation, provides intelligent line sensors and analytics software for fault & predictive failure detection, outage prevention, wildfire prevention and for safe and reliable power delivery.

Due to growing energy usage by residential and commercial customers, the current electric distribution grid system is increasingly under stress. Aging infrastructure combined with an increase in distributed generation, such as rooftop solar, further penetration of electric vehicles, and the advent of microgrids, are making it more challenging for owners and operators of electric distribution grids to operate safely and reliably. The need to have better insights into the distribution grid has never been greater.
